Reflect on unexpected grief experiences, write letters to past and future selves, journaling challenges and struggles.
In this final chapter of the journal, bereaved parents have the opportunity to reflect on their support system and its role in their grieving process. This chapter includes a range of prompts to help parents solidify their support system and provide a space for self-reflection.
One of the first exercises in this chapter is writing love notes to their baby and themselves. Parents are encouraged to express their love and appreciation for their child, providing comfort and validation during difficult times.
Additionally, a section is dedicated to exploring the unexpected aspects of grieving and reflecting on what they wish people would stop saying. This allows bereaved parents to process their feelings and share their experiences in a safe environment.
At the end of this chapter, bereaved parents can write a letter to their future selves. This letter will serve as a reminder of their progress and strength in the future. There is also space to write a letter to their past self, acknowledging their struggles and offering comfort and encouragement.
In addition to the love notes, affirmations, and letters, the chapter includes pages for parents to write about their experiences with grieving, including what has been unexpected, how they get through the most challenging days and some of their biggest struggles. For parents who feel like they have more to write about, there is also space provided for open journaling. If they have filled up all the "Today is ___, and I'm feeling..." pages, they can print out more to continue their reflections.
