Parents are encouraged to reflect on their grief journey, create a legacy, participate in charity events, and journal their thoughts and feelings.
In this chapter, bereaved parents reflect on their actions since their loss. Have they started a new hobby, spoken with other parents who have experienced a similar loss, or educated others on coping with grief? Have they created a legacy for their child, or are they considering ways to do so? The chapter includes a checklist of ways bereaved parents can honor their child's memory, such as participating in charity events, planting flowers, volunteering, displaying reminders of the child, meditating, celebrating their birthday, or starting a blog. There is also space for elaborating on their thoughts from the checklist.
In addition, journaling prompts are provided for the parents to reflect on their self-care regimens that help them the most, anything positive that has come from this journey (if they have anything positive to write), locations that spark a feeling of connection with the child, and how others provide comfort when grief feels heavy. There is also a page dedicated to exploring the senses: sights and things unseen, scents and smells, sounds and things heard, tastes and foods, and touch and feel. Parents are encouraged to journal about how certain senses spark memories for them, whether positive or negative. Finally, two pages are dedicated to documenting new developments in the lives of the bereaved parents that they wish they could share with their child.
